Silver Metamorphosis began with a simple observation, after experimentation and exploration it grew into a new vision that changed my relationship to the world I saw around me. My photographic eye was now opened to a new way of seeing my subjects and I was propelled into a new understanding of the medium. Silver Metamorphosis transforms it’s subjects from organic to metallic, with this technique I bring out textures, shapes and designs that a straight photograph often does not. Where the textures do not become evident the transformation changes our fundamental perception of the object. What once was a fleeting part of our lives can now have the illusion of permanence and take on a new significance.
“Insect” focuses on the world of those that creep, crawl and fly: creatures that go most often unnoticed and that so many people find repulsive. This collection presents a visual paradox; these reviled beings are frightening yet elegant, powerful yet fragile. The delicacy and perfection of their construction overcomes our base revulsion and we can become fascinated . The transformation allows us to see them for what they truly are: ancient jewels sublime in their textures and details.
